The Swiss ST 26 high performance Swiss-type turning center from Tornos features seven linear axes plus two C axes and two independent tool systems for parts ranging to 1" in diameter (0.9" without bar prep) and 8.6" long with guidebush. An independent dual slide system enables pinch turning and milling.
The turning center features a flexible design that provides a choice of three configurations: Starter, Advanced and MedTech. Each can be equipped with different toolholders, attachments and accessories for a variety of applications.
The Swiss ST 26 features a 36 tool capacity (16 rotating) and allows three tools in the cut simultaneously. The system works with or without guidebush and is equipped with a large, easy-to-access workzone and powerful spindles, Tornos says. The turning center’s open design is said to be well-suited for chip evacuation into a large pan. The center also features an automatic central lubrication system and a large coolant tank.
