Marposs has announced the availability of its P1dWB, an entry-level grinding wheel balancing and process monitoring system intended to replace the company’s E78 and E82 electronic systems. Designed with full backwards capability, the system features functions such as pre-balancing and spectral analysis of the imbalance. It can also simultaneously manage a single balancing head and an integrated acoustic sensor (if present) both for flange (FT) and spindle (ST) models.
The balancing system is designed to help control the intensity of vibrations on the grinding wheel, compensating for imbalance and helping to improve the surface finish and geometry of the parts being ground. It is also said to optimize machining cycle times.
The system is available in rack, standalone and remote panel so that it can be installed outside of the machine tool or integrated in the operator panel. It has a 4.3" touch screen and comes with a tool that can back up data, restore operations and act as the human-machine interface if the system is used with a PC instead of a panel.
Other features available include a multi-level login function for secure data and settings management, and a self-diagnostic function to quicken troubleshooting.
The P1dWB is designed to upgrade old-generation, in-process and pre/post-process amplifiers. According to the company, replacing an E78 or E82 with the new system enables users to meet international environmental and safety standards as well as reduce maintenance costs through warranty coverage. Users do not need to modify the control logic to install it, as it is supplied with an accessories kit for a plug-and-play replacement procedure.
