Iscar says that the Mincut family of small-face grooving and turning tools is designed for high machining rates, and it is suited for applications prone to high tool failure rates. The tools incorporate a special design and clamping system that is said to prolong tool life. The line of tools includes eight inserts that are screw-clamped into a long pocket in the tool bar.
The inserts and toolbars range in diameter from 0.315″ to 0.669″ (8 to 17 mm) with grooving depths ranging to 0.216″ (5.5 mm).
The grooving tooling is said to deliver uninterrupted chip flow and can be safely used for grooving in deep holes. According to the company, it can also be used in rotating applications, functioning like a single-point trepanning tool.
The inserts feature hard, fine-grain grade IC 908 for high chipping resistance, and they are available in widths from 0.060″ to 0.087″ (1.5 to 2.2 mm).
