Designed to rough and fine turn large workpieces, Chevalier’s FBL-530 lathe features a 45-degree slant-bed design made of Meehanite cast iron with a wide-span, ribbed-box structure. Four 130- × 80-mm box ways are designed to provide stability and support.
The lathe is available in 80", 120" and 160" sizes, with spindle bore diameter measuring as large as 320 mm, which is suitable for most oil industry applications. Maximum swing diameter is 40.5", and cutting diameter is 37". A Z-axis ballscrew support is designed for precision and stability, and the lathe’s dual-chuck, easy-access design provides convenience for loading and unloading longer parts, the company says.
The lathe features a 60-hp spindle motor with a four-stage gearbox and generates 7,118 nm of torque. A 200-mm-thick disk and hydraulic clamping of the curvic coupling ensure cutting stability during rough turning, the company says.
