The AgieCharmilles Form 20 iRTC sinker EDM from GF Machining Solutions comes with an integrated rotary toolchanger (iRTC) to boost part processing flexibility while increasing capability for continuous, unattended operation. Well-suited to manufacturers in the die-mold, aerospace and automotive sectors, this automated EDM can process jobs that require either multiple electrodes or several workpieces varying in size and geometry, the company says. It accommodates electrodes as heavy as 22 lbs and as large as 5.9" × 3.94" or ranging to 5.9" in diameter and height. Depending on their size, the changer can hold either eight or 16 electrodes or workpieces.
The 70-amp intelligent power generator on the Form 20 iRTC requires only 3.7 kW/hr. at full power. In addition, its design helps to optimize the EDM process, reduce electrode wear and provide uniform surface finishes, according to the company. The machine features the company's intuitive AC Form human machine interface, which is said to shorten the learning curve for beginner EDM operators.
