The company says its VC toolholder, operating at speeds as high as 40,000 rpm, offers speed, accuracy (runout is within 0.00012鈥 at 4xD) and smooth surface finishes.
The toolholder鈥檚 profile decreases noise related to high speed rotation, while reducing the air current created by the hex nuts and slots, which are located on the periphery of various toolholders. Dampening of micro harmonic vibrations is achieved with the use of a groove under the nut. The wall at the base of the model, the short gauge length and an eight-degree design all contribute to rigidity and gripping torque.
According to the company, other significant features include a TiN bearing nut that can achieve increase torque by reducing the friction associated with nut tightening; an extended straight portion of the collet, which maintains the concentric placement of the tool; and a flat shoulder design, which results in heightened perpendicular force transfer.
The toolholder is available in 30-, 40- and 50-tapers, as well as HSK and three-lock models. High pressure coolant-thru is optional.
