NCMT will demonstrate Blue Photon’s photo-activated adhesive workholding system designed to hold parts for tight-tolerance machining and inspection. The product is used for complex, hard-to-hold parts or delicate materials like ceramic and laminated composites.
The adhesive grippers are installed into fixtures to grip and support the part without clamping. It can supply up to 605 lbs of tensile holding power without distorting the part and allows for easy automation of difficult-to-load parts, the company says. Any part at risk from distortion from traditional clamping or those that pose complications in fixture design can be held with Blue Photon’s gripper and BlueGrip workholding adhesive.
