Mazak’s Integrex i-200ST multitasking machine features the company’s Mazatrol SmoothX CNC for machining complex parts. The small-footprint machine uses dual turning spindles, a lower turret and a milling spindle for “done-in-one” production of mid-size, complex components as large as 25.9" in diameter. Both turning spindles offer high performance with spindle speeds of 5,000 rpm and C-axis turning control plus maximum bar work capacity measuring 2.56" in diameter. For C-axis contouring versatility at either turning spindle, the machine’s vertically mounted, 30-hp, 12,000-rpm milling spindle has a rotating B-axis range of -30 to +240 degrees. According to the company, its roller cam drive for the B axis ensures increased accuracy and rigidity while providing zero backlash.
The machine’s lower drum turret carries nine tools and can work at either the main or second spindle with the same tool, enabling the turret to perform balanced cutting operations on a part, working in tandem with the machine’s vertical milling spindle. The lower turret also has milling capability.
Made for complex, multi-axis machine tools, the company’s SmoothX CNC offers maximum speeds as much as four times faster than previous-generation controls. The CNC works in conjunction with the company’s Smooth Technology process-performance platform that spans the entire part production landscape, from programming to metal removal to data collection. As a result, aerospace part manufacturers can shorten machine cycle times, enhance simultaneous five-axis operations and more, Mazak says.
The Integrex i-200ST is designed to be easy to install and maintain. In addition, the machine’s 36-tool and optional 72-tool changers are front-mounted for quick access. All of the machine’s lubrication points and gages are combined into a single panel for ease of viewing and upkeep.
