Kennametal Slim Line chucks offer speeds as high as 30,000-rpm while allowing the use of standard-length tooling. Featuring a slim and rigid design, the chucks are useful for hard-to-reach drilling, boring and reaming applications in the automotive, die/mold and aerospace industries, the company says.

Other applications include general machining where existing drill L × D ratios do not meet clearance requirements. The pre-balanced chucks accept tool diameters ranging from 1/4" to 3/4" (6 mm to 20 mm). When used with standard reducer sleeves, they can handle tools as small as 1/8" (3 mm) in diameter.

The tools are available in the company’s KM modular tooling systems, as well as the HSK63A and HSK100A, DV40 and 50, BT40 and 50, and CV 40 and 50 spindle connections.
