The Heckert DBF 630 HMC, available from Starrag, enables turning, drilling and milling of non-rotational, asymmetrical parts in a single clamping with one toolholder. The machine provides accuracies to 5 microns while also offering high torque ranging to 1,700 Nm, enabling the complete machining of pump and valve housings, fittings, packing flanges, rock bits, chassis components and other parts produced from difficult-to-machine materials with complex geometries. While several clamping positions are necessary for such pieces on conventional machines, this unit’s radial facing slide (designed as the NC axis) enables precise machining of these complex parts in a single clamping.
The variable-speed, 35-kW spindle drives milling or drilling tools at a maximum speed of 3,500 rpm in their center settings. The slide displaces the rotating turning tool radially by ±35 mm when turning on the fixed workpiece. Compensation weights integrated into the machining head, combined with balanced tools, automatically compensate for any imbalances and enable speeds as fast as 1,200 rpm as well as cost-efficient cutting speeds as fast as 250 m/min.
A variety of sizes provide square pallet dimensions ranging from 630 to 1,000 mm. The working areas are tailored to the size of the workpiece, adapting to each application for the same level of performance.
