Kurt’s new DoveLock dovetail vises are designed for high clamping strength and five-sided access to the workpiece in five-axis, four-axis and palletized CNC machining systems. The vise is available in two sizes: a 1" jaw width DTR10 model and a 2" jaw width DTR20 model.
With a jaw opening ranging from 0.33" to 1.65" depending on the model, the reversible jaws provide a wider clamping range of the dovetail workpiece. Varied dovetail widths setup to setup can be accommodated because of the moveable jaw stroke. This enables the machinist to use the dovetail strip best suited for the part size and configuration. Additionally, preparation of the part blank does not require the dovetail holding strip to be machined within 0.001", saving time.
Designed and built from pre-hardened 4140 steel, the DoveLock vise minimizes high machining pressure, deflection and clamp creep. The moveable jaw slide is retained within the stationary jaw, and the clamping screw is positioned at the top of the clamping envelope, providing anti-deflection control.
Both models are available with an integrated mounting base preconfigured with hole patterns to fit most CNC machines, the company says. Additional riser bases or pallet options are available.
