The compact TR160Y dual-axis, trunnion rotary table from Haas Automation is designed to mount in the Y direction (front to back on the table) of a mid-sized VMC. At less than 25" wide and 19" deep, the trunnion is said to fit easily on one end of the machine’s table, freeing the remainder for additional fixtures or vises. The rotary table has a 160-mm T-slot platter and will swing parts ranging in diameter to 7.5". The maximum platter capacity is 80 lbs. The trunnion provides ±120 degrees of tilt and 360 degrees of rotation for simultaneous five-axis motion. It can also position parts to almost any angle for machining, the company says.
Powerful brushless servomotors on both axes of the trunnion provide 150 foot-pounds of torque on the A axis and 100 foot-pounds of torque on the B axis. Brake torque is 300 foot-pounds and 100 foot-pounds, respectively, and speeds are 130 degrees per second on the rotary axis and 100 degrees per second on the tilt axis. According to the company, the trunnion’s precision-ground platter of heat-treated 4140 alloy steel has six standard 5/8" T-slots equally spaced at 60 degrees for easy fixturing. Three servo-control configurations are available, making the trunnion easy to interface to almost any machine, the company says.
