DMG MORI Expands, Modernizes Polish Plant
The plant is among DMG MORI’s oldest and largest. It is said that the modernization was necessary, given the machine tool demands of recent years.

DMG MORI has expanded the Famot factory in Pleszew, Poland, one of its oldest and most traditional plants. Already one of the largest factories in the company, a 60 million-Euro investment has brought the total area to some 50,000 square meters, of which 21,000 square meters are dedicated to production and assembly with modernized and digitized manufacturing technologies. With modular products from Istos, DMG MORI Software Solutions and WERKBLiQ, this future-oriented project is said to serve as an example of a digital production plant.
“DMG MORI supports its customers on their path to Industry 4.0 and IIoT. If we are to offer target-oriented end-to-end solutions, we also have to advance our own digitization, of course,” says Dr. Michael Budt, Famot CSO. “We are experiencing first-hand how digital transformation can be implemented in practice because we are developing integral digital solutions for our own production.”
Dr. Budt goes on to say that given the order and production volume that has been growing continuously for years in the area of rump body machines for the DMG MORI Group (particularly the CLX and CMX series), modernization of the Famot plant became a necessity: By 2020, the factory is expected to produce more than 2,000 of its own CLX/CMX machine tools and additionally around 2,000 rump body machines as well as several hundred more components and parts for the sister companies in the group.
