Available from Heidenhain, Leine & Linde’s Model 862 rotary encoder with Profibus DP supports condition monitoring systems for use in the steel, wind power and other industries. The heavy-duty incremental encoder incorporates the company’s advanced diagnostic system (ADS) into the Profibus diagnostic information to provide users with insight on the general health of the encoder, as well as specific failure information when necessary. Working in tandem with incremental output signals, the Profibus communication can also support velocity feedback, over-speed alarm limits, operating temperature, position presets, operating time and more.
High-voltage and high-current TTL outputs are offered on the incremental output channels, and the encoder is isolated from the shaft to 2.5 kV with the use of hybrid ceramic bearings. The encoder is rated for operation with a 9-to-30-V power supply from -40°C to 80°C. Two dual-color LEDs integrated into the housing cover display health status through a combination of red and green indicators.
