GF AgieCharmilles' five-axis HEM 500U features an optional Mikron handling system and Heidenhain control. The milling machine offers a 12,000-rpm spindle and 30-tool magazine said to provide a chip-to-chip time of 2 sec. for high speed, continuous milling operations. A 20,000-rpm spindle and 60-tool changer are also available. According to the company, the machine is well-suited for machining aluminum, alloy and steel parts.
